I believe we can describe the Whitewater Unified School District by saying: We are large enough to serve you, but small enough to know you. We have several full time staff to meet the needs of all student: Special ed, speech, ELL, and G/T. Yet our schools are small enough that most staff knows almost all the students by name. At Washington our class sizes are 15 or less in grades K-3. this allows us to give more attention to each student. We celebrate diversity in Whitewater and we encourage a great deal of parent and community involvement. Parents are members of building leadership teams and committees throughout the district. We also have many volunteers that assist student learning. Volunteers are university students, community members and parents. Whitewater is a great place to grow and learn as both a child and a staff member.
Hello my name is Kelley Marotta. I love kindergarten. Everything is new and exciting and the children are eager to learn. I enjoy providing an environment in which children can learn, discover and reach new goals.
I enjoy using songs, movement and games to teach letters sounds and math concepts. We also enjoy learning some Spanish words and sign language. Students are very proud to know various ways to communicate.
This is my 13th year teaching Kindergarten at Washington School. From 1990-1997, I taught English as a Second Language all over the Whitewater School District. I speak fluent Spanish.
I am also very excited about a new program all the kindergarten teachers have implemented at Washington this year. It's called SMART. It stands for Stimulating Maturity Accelerated Readiness Training. We do an obstacle course, spinning, basic vision and superman and popcorn. Look for a link soon to describe these activities in detail.
When I'm not at school, I stay busy with my family. My husband Jeff and I have two young daughters. Sarah is 5 and Grace is 4. We also have a black lab named Buddy. We live in Janesville. We love to play outdoors, play board games and swim.
